“The Substance of Faith”

By editor • Jan 12th, 2010 • Category: Sermon Series

Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Faith really does have substance because God is real. Faith is tangible. It is the inner witness that provided by the Holy Spirit that gives us the motivation to believe and act. Like many things, just because we cannot easily define it with our 5 senses, doesn’t mean it isn’t real. Atoms, molecules, planets, etc. We haven’t seen those things yet we trust those in authority who have seen them. There is no greater authority on life than God himself so when he speaks, we do well to listen and believe. We know faith is real because it has so many enemies who want to destroy it, and rob us of the benefits of faith. 1 Peter 5:9 Resist him, firm in your faith. Faith is a gift that has been given by God to each of us. Eph 2:8, For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God. Faith calls us to action. (Hebrews chapter 11) and faith needs to be exercised in order to grow.

Tune in to the creative illustration shared with the congregation that demonstrates the “substance” of faith.
