Weekly News for May 23, 2010
By editor • May 28th, 2010 • Category: UncategorizedSUSAN SMITH IS HOME… …for a few weeks anyway! A lot has happened with Susan and she has a lot to share with us about her time spent as a missionary in Honduras. There will be a reception for Susan immediately following the church service next week, May 23. It will be a time of connecting with Susan and hearing her report on how the Lord is working in Enlaces & in Susan. There will be a light lunch provided by the Mission Board.
PENTECOST SERVICE We will be having a special evening Pentecost Service this evening at 6:30 pm for anyone who would like to attend. Do you need a fresh touch and in-filling from the Holy Spirit? Do you desire to receive the Baptism in the Holy Spirit? Come for a time to have your heart renewed by God’s Spirit.
CHURCH WORK DAY June 5, from 8 am to 1 pm, we are having another work day at the church. The work will be done outside. This is a great time to spruce up the church, get to know one another and spend some time in the fresh air. If you have any questions, please see Steve Batten. See you there!
A PLACE TO SERVE Edye Cable has been very generous in giving people who can’t make it to church on their own rides every Sunday morning. Every once in a while she is unable to do so. We are looking for someone who would be able to provide rides every once in a while. The church van would be available. If you are interested, please see Tatyana in the office.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL Wildwood Forest is coming to our Vacation Bible School June 21st – 25th from 6-8:30 pm. Save the Dates! Preregistration cards are available at the Kiosk today for your children ages four years old through 6th grade.
DIVORCE RECOVERY A new 13-week course began Thursday, May 20th, at 6:30pm at the church. This group helps those recovering from the trauma of divorce or separation. The cost of the course is $20. Partial scholarships are available. Childcare is available for a small fee and must be coordinated with Lynnett Beck at 785-633-1892.
PARTNERSHIP CLASS The next Partnership Class will be Sunday, June 13, after the morning service in the Fellowship Hall. Come learn about our history, leadership and ministries. Lunch will be provided. If you’re interested in the class, please sign up at the kiosk so we can plan accordingly.
REMINDER Food and drinks (except bottled water) are not allowed in the sanctuary. They take a big toll on our carpet. Please enjoy your morning coffee and sweets in the lobby.
NEW VIDEO MINISTRY STARTING! As leaders we have made the decision to enter into the video age and videotape our teachings and worship. There are several reasons for this. We can put video portions of the sermon or worship onto our website and give people who visit, a more clear understanding of who we are. Video DVD’s can become available for those who would like to see as well as hear all the illustrations that are given during a sermon and feel like more of a participant in worship too.
To do this we need at least one person to start and then others, who have camera knowledge and videotaping skills to start a new ministry in the church. The new ministry would fall under the umbrella of Worship so you would need to talk with Pastor Paul if you are interested. He can be contacted at 841-5685 Tuesday-Friday, 9am to 4pm. Is God speaking to you?
