Adult Ministries
A church is not a building. A church is a group of people of common faith who have joined together, to share their lives together through the love of Jesus Christ. Jesus calls the church His body. It is when we begin to understand this analogy that we can grasp the meaning of what church is all about. The human body is made up of many, many parts from microscopic cells, to arms and legs. The most amazing aspect of the whole human body is how its millions of parts, though individual, are all interrelated and interdependent. Each part needs other parts in order to function effectively as a whole body. Since the Bible gives us this word-picture of the church the same principles of the human body apply to the church body.
“He (Christ) makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love” (Eph. 4:16).
Every person (“each part”) in a church has a work to do in relationship to other people (“helps the other parts grow”). This is what makes a “healthy” church. People need to be involved in the work of God alongside others. This promotes real spiritual growth. In the small group setting, people can discover their spiritual gifts, help others, draw closer to God, and learn to love others like Jesus did. Lives are transformed! It is also in this small group setting that future leaders are being trained up. This is the best place to learn how to lead others. The future leadership of our church is drawn from those who are actively involved in a ministry or small group.
As the Senior Pastor I strongly encourage you to get involved in one of our small groups or ministry groups. It offers you the opportunity to grow spiritually far more than if you keep to yourself. Not only that, but you will develop friendships that will often last for a lifetime. So, what are you waiting for? Dive in and get involved!
